Documentation-led quality: CoA, SDS, specification, IFRA
AMIDE is a sourcing partner, not a testing laboratory. Our contribution to quality is discipline: we know what complete documentation looks like, we ask the manufacturer for it, and we pass it through attributed to its source and its batch.
The four documents that travel with a material
Certificate of analysis
Per batchIdentity, appearance, key assay values and, where relevant, microbial limits for the batch supplied, from the manufacturer's testing. For plant oils, expect acid value, peroxide value and a fatty-acid profile.
Safety data sheet
UK REACH and CLP formatHazard classification, handling, storage, transport and physical data including flash point. Required for classified materials and requested for everything we supply.
Specification and INCI
Per materialThe technical specification, INCI name, CAS number and, where relevant, origin, extraction method, recommended usage range and organic or RSPO status, as the manufacturer states them.
IFRA certificate and allergen declaration
Fragrance materialsThe IFRA conformity certificate sets the maximum usage level per product category; the allergen declaration lists the regulated fragrance allergens present. Both are needed for candle CLP labels and cosmetic ingredient lists.
Reading the documents critically
Not every certificate carries equal weight. A specification sheet with no batch number, no named laboratory and one unsupported figure tells you very little. We look for a batch reference, the tests actually performed, results against a stated specification, and a safety data sheet that matches the material and its classification. Where a document falls short, we go back to the manufacturer before we quote.
For external use only
Everything we supply is a raw material for external use only, in cosmetic, fragrance and home-fragrance formulation. It is not a finished product and is not supplied for any other purpose. Handle and store it as the safety data sheet directs, and keep it out of reach of children.
Your finished product is yours
The business that places a finished product on the market carries its compliance. For a cosmetic that means a cosmetic product safety report (CPSR) from a qualified assessor, a named responsible person, a product information file and notification before sale. For candles, wax melts and reed diffusers it means CLP classification and labelling driven by the fragrance, plus general product safety. Good documents from us make that work easier; they do not do it for you, and AMIDE does not provide or cover it.
Attribution, always
Where a manufacturer provides testing, certification or a conformity statement, that evidence is theirs. We never restate a maker’s analytical work or accreditation as an AMIDE credential. It is passed through, clearly attributed, so you can assess the source yourself.
Grade, specification, origin and availability are treated as to be verified until confirmed in writing for your requirement. That is why the catalogue quotes rather than claims, and why nothing is stocked.
